I've been doing a lot of deep thinking lately. About my life and where I'm going, and where my trading is going (not the best week I've had this year).
I'm in Minneapolis for a free seminar, and took some photos that I'll share with you. Before I do that, here is a quote that Doug sent in this morning:
You are not here merely to make a living.
You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement.
He ascribes this quote to Woodrow Wilson. Is this part of why you get up in the morning? It is for me. I fail frequently, but I keep getting up for that reason. As my friend Don reminds us, "What are your Big Reasons for Being on the Planet?"
Here are some photos of my trip so far:
Yesterday morning I took an early drive to the airport. I usually hate long morning drives and morning flights. I can hard;y get the Ambien out of my eyes in time to go through security. And I inevitably eat something at the airport that isn't good for me.
But Friday morning the sun was beautiful and I was more at peace. Sometimes taking a drive is a good first step in getting our balance back.
I've been reading Paul Theroux's new book, Ghost Train to the Eastern Star, and I'm captivated by it. His books don't always do this for me, but this one does (as did The Happy Isles of Oceania). I found myself thinking of another place, finding myself walking through the markets in India, or on a rickety train running through fields in Asia.
It's not just about trading, right? It's about being aware of the world around us.
I'll mention more from my trip a bit later, but these are just some thoughts I've had this morning.
